So you’ve written a novel. Now what?
Do you self-publish or go traditional? Do you hire an agent, an editor or both? Who’ll handle the publicity?
Mundane Adventures is a weekly column by guest blogger Kieran Mathers, charting his efforts to shepherd his debut novel, The Darkness Embraces, from final draft to publication.
Kieran is a freelance writer based in Sheffield, UK, very much inspired by the works of C.J. Samson, Hilary Mantel, George R.R. Martin and Robin Hobb. While not hunched over a keyboard creating worlds in his head, he goes cycling in the Peak District and writes poetry.
He was the lead fiction writer for the independently published war-game The Department, which was released in 2011. He is also the lead writer on the game’s sequel, The Ghosts of Hefei, which is due for release in late 2013.
In addition to his Mundane Adventures column, he has written numerous reviews and articles for Impossible Podcasts.
